Способ восстановления рельсов с дефектами на поверхности катания автоматической электродуговой наплавкой, включающий предварительный подогрев и процесс наплавки, отличающийся тем, что, с целью повышения механических свойств, надежности и производительности процесса, снижения себестоимости и трудоемкости, выполняют: предварительный индукционный контролируемый нагрев головки рельса до температуры 400±50°C на длину места наплавки и по 100 мм в каждую сторону; наплавку, с использованием программируемого манипулятора, самозащитной порошковой сварочной проволокой специального состава, с особой последовательностью наложения наплавочных швов, заключающейся в наложении первого валика по периметру места наплавки и последующих - поперек оси рельса на ширину головки с перекрытием до 1/3 ширины предыдущего валика, при необходимости в несколько слоев; нормализацию рельса в зоне наплавки индукционным контролируемым нагревом до температуры 600±50°C с выдержкой 60±5 с;1.
