Способ поиска и измерения трещин на поверхности стальных изделий, включающий сканирование поверхности изделия вихретоковым поисковым датчиком до получения сигнала о наличии трещины, фиксацию зоны расположения трещины, установку на найденную зону предварительно откалиброванного измерительного электропотенциального датчика и снятие измеренного сигнала, отличающийся тем, что с целью повышения точности при сокращении времени измерения фиксацию зоны расположения трещины и установку измерительного электропотенциального датчика осуществляют одновременно с получением сигнала о наличии трещины.2. Устройство для поиска и измерения трещин на поверхности стальных изделий, содержащее вихретоковый поисковый датчик, выполненный в виде взаимоориентированных пересекающихся катушек и измерительный электропотенциальный датчик, включающий игольчатые зондирующие контакты, отличающееся тем, что поисковый датчик и измерительная часть выполнены в виде единого блока, состоящего из корпуса, с подвижно закрепленными в нем игольчатыми зондирующими контактами и подвижно закрепленным вихретоковым поисковым датчиком, установленным так, что проекция точки пересечения катушек на контролируемую поверхность изделия находится между проекциями игольчатых зондирующих контактов.3.
