Спосіб виявлення дефектів покриття на виробах з електропровідних матеріалів з циліндричною та (або) конічною, та (або) круглою пласкою поверхнею включає використання вихрострумового вимірювача товщини з датчиком зі збуджувачем та вимірювачем параметрів електромагнітного поля, наведеного у виробі, оснащеного аналогово-цифровим контролером для обробки сигналів датчика та засобом реєстрації оброблених сигналів і управління переміщенням поверхні виробу відносно датчика із скануванням поверхні, ідентифікацією дефекту шляхом зіставлення результатів вимірювання параметрів поля з відповідним пороговим (критичним) значенням та індикацією дефекту.
