Abstract
1. A method for preventing liquid from being pumped out through a pump having an inlet and an outlet, this outlet being connected to an outlet line; the method comprising providing an inlet air valve in the outlet line to allow air into the outlet line as fluid flows through the outlet line. The method according to claim 1, wherein the inlet air valve is located at a height not less than slightly below the height of the pump outlet. A device for preventing pumping of liquid condensate through a pump, comprising a liquid inlet configured to be connected to the pump outlet, the device further comprising a liquid outlet forming an opening through the device with a liquid inlet, the device further comprising an air inlet in hydraulic communication with an orifice, and wherein the air inlet comprises a one-way valve configured to allow air into the device in response to liquid condensate flow through the orifice. The device of claim 3, wherein the valve is a duck-nose valve. Device according to claim 4, wherein the valve is made of an elastomeric material. Device according to any one of claims 3 to 5, wherein the air inlet comprises a cavity in fluid communication with the orifice via a communication line. The device of claim 6 wherein the valve is a duck-nose valve and is held in place within the cavity by a retaining cap.
