Abstract

1. A planar lighting device comprising: a plurality of light sources; a light guide plate in order to allow light emitted from the light sources to exit in a planar manner; a plurality of optical sheets located on the side of the light emitting surface of the light guide plate; and a reflection sheet located on the opposite side of the light emitting surface of the light guide plate relative to the position of the light guide plate, wherein the planar lighting device has a frame for fixing the plurality of optical sheets, at least one of the plurality of optical sheets has a light shielding portion provided in a portion of the region corresponding to the non-radiating the light of the area of the planar lighting device, one of the many optical sheets, which is located in the position farthest from of the conductive plate, is a reflector type polarizer that allows a certain amount of light to pass through it and allows other light to be reflected in such a way that the length of the reflector type polarizer is longer in the first direction than the length of the conductive plate, so that the edge of the reflector type polarizer is closer to the side of the light sources than the edge of the light guide plate, the first direction being the direction perpendicular to the plane in which s light sources of the planes forming karkas.2. The planar lighting device according to claim 1, wherein the distance in the first direction between the edge of the light guide plate and the edge of the reflector type polarizer is at least

Claims (11)

1. A planar lighting device comprising: a plurality of light sources; a light guide plate in order to allow light emitted from the light sources to exit in a planar manner; a plurality of optical sheets located on the side of the light emitting surface of the light guide plate; and a reflection sheet located on a side opposite the side of the light emitting surface of the light guide plate relative to the position of the light guide plate, wherein
the planar lighting device has a frame for fixing a plurality of optical sheets,
at least one of the plurality of optical sheets has a light shielding portion provided in a portion of a region corresponding to a non-light emitting region of a planar lighting device,
one of the plurality of optical sheets, which is located at the position farthest from the light guide plate, is a reflector type polarizer that allows a certain amount of light to pass through it and allows other light to be reflected in this way, and
the length of the reflective type polarizer is longer in the first direction than the length of the light guide plate, so that the edge of the reflective type polarizer is closer to the side of the light sources than the edge of the light guide plate, the first direction being the direction perpendicular to the plane in which the light sources are provided , from the planes forming the frame.
2. The planar lighting device according to claim 1, in which the distance in the first direction between the edge of the light guide plate and the edge of the reflector type polarizer is at least one third of the distance between the edge of the light guide plate and the plane of the frame providing light sources on it.
3. The planar lighting device according to claim 1, wherein the distance in the first direction between the edge of the light guide plate and the edge of the reflector type polarizer is at least 1 mm.
4. The planar lighting device according to claim 1, in which the light-shielding portion is provided in at least one third of the region in the first direction in the region from the position corresponding to the edge of the light-emitting region of the planar lighting device, on the optical sheet, to the edge of the optical sheet other than polarizer reflective type.
5. The planar lighting device according to claim 1, in which the light-shielding portion is formed by providing a black ink print on the optical sheet.
6. The planar lighting device according to claim 1, in which the portion of the frame is black, and this portion is located more on the side of the light emitting surface than on the optical sheets.
7. The planar lighting device according to claim 6, in which the thickness of the portion of the frame located more on the side of the light emitting surface than on the optical sheets is 1.5 mm or less.
8. The planar lighting device according to claim 1, in which the reflector-type polarizer consists of many thin films with different refractive indices and allows linearly polarized light oscillating in a specific direction to pass through it and allows linearly polarized light oscillating in a direction perpendicular to a particular direction, reflected in this way.
9. The planar lighting device according to claim 1, in which
a reflective type polarizer consists of a cholesteric liquid crystal layer and a phase plate,
a layer of cholesteric liquid crystal allows circularly polarized light rotating in a specific direction to pass through it and allows circularly polarized light rotating in a direction that differs from that specific direction to be reflected in this way, and
the phase difference plate converts circularly polarized light transmitted through a cholesteric liquid crystal layer into linearly polarized light.
10. The planar lighting device according to claim 1, in which the reflector type polarizer consists of a base having a plurality of metallic thin lines formed on it, and for light having a wavelength greater than the interval between the plurality of metallic thin lines, the reflector type polarizer allows a component having a vector of electric field strength perpendicular to thin metal lines pass through it and allows a component having a vector of electric field strength parallel to metal m thin lines, reflected thereby.
11. A display device further comprising a display panel; and a planar lighting device according to claim 1.
