Abstract
Description
The invention relates to powder metallurgy, in particular to the manufacture of single and multilayer porous products, for example filters, from granules of titanium-based alloys.
177). A known method of manufacturing porous products from metal powders, including the placement of embedded reinforcing elements of monolithic material in the forming tooling, filling the powder into the forming tooling and subsequent sintering (A. Andrievsky "Porous metal-ceramic materials." Publishing house "Metallurgy", M., 1984 , p. 177).
The disadvantage of this method is the low throughput of the products due to the presence in the product of impermeable reinforcing elements. In addition, this method provides products with limited technological capabilities in the manufacture of reinforcing elements from a material different from the material of the granules. So, for example, if wire, angles, or other types of profiles obtained using deformation methods are used as reinforcing elements, such reinforcing elements, unlike granules, can only be made of deformable materials. The receipt of products with limited technological capabilities is due to the fact that the material of the reinforcing elements may not sufficiently possess any property required for the product, for example, resistance in an aggressive environment.
В 22 F 3/10, В 01 D 25/26, 1978).There is also a known method of manufacturing single and multilayer titanium porous products, including layer-by-layer filling of granules into a forming tool, followed by sintering of each layer in a vacuum or inert atmosphere at a temperature of 1100-1200 о С (ed. St. N 609598, class B 22 F 3 / 10, B 01 D 25/26, 1978).
The disadvantage of this method is the low throughput of the products, due to the fact that when sintering in the specified temperature range, the resulting porous material has a relatively low strength and therefore achieving the required level of strength of the entire product can only be achieved by increasing the thickness of the latter. This leads to an increase in filtering resistance, which reduces throughput.
The essence of the invention lies in the fact that the manufacture of single and multilayer titanium porous products is carried out by layer-by-layer filling of granules of various fractions into a forming tool, followed by sintering of each layer in a vacuum or inert atmosphere, and sintering is carried out in a higher temperature range, namely in the range , the lower limit of which is 1210 C, and the upper 10 ° C below the liquidus temperature of the material granules. The filling of the first layer of granules can be done in this case in a snap with recesses for the formation of porous reinforcing elements from granules on the surface of the product.
Sintering in the proposed temperature range is accompanied by a significant development of diffusion and sublimation mass transfer processes in the material of the granules. This leads to the formation between the granules of the contact necks with a large cross-sectional area, which, in turn, provides a significant increase in the strength properties of the sintered material. The latter allows to reduce the thickness of the porous products and thereby increase their throughput. It should also be noted that sintering in the proposed temperature range prevents the possibility of both complete melting of the material and the formation of isolated pores in it as a result of partial melting, i.e., it leads to products with through porosity, due to which these products can be used to filter liquid and gaseous media. When filling the first layer of granules in a snap with recesses on the surface of the sintered product, permeable reinforcing elements from granules are formed for liquids and gases. This makes it possible to further reduce the thickness of the remaining area of the products while maintaining the required level of their strength, which allows to further increase their throughput. The formation on the surface of the product of permeable reinforcing elements from granules can also expand the technological capabilities of the product, since the reinforcing elements and the product are made in this case from the same material.
Sintering at temperatures below the proposed range is accompanied by a noticeable decrease in diffusion mobility and the intensity of sublimation of atoms. As a result, the strength of the contacts between the granules, and hence the strength of the sintered material, acquire low values. To ensure the required level of strength, it is necessary to increase the thickness of the products, which leads to a decrease in their throughput.
Sintering at temperatures above the proposed range leads either to complete melting of the material, or to the formation of isolated pores in it due to partial melting. The resulting product is impervious to liquids and gases, and therefore cannot be used for filtering.
таблицу).An example implementation of the proposed method. Because titanium alloys BT1-0 (. T face = 1665 C) and VT5 (face T = 1700 ° C.) Was prepared granules fractional compositions 200 - 250 and 250 - 315 microns. Granules were poured layer by layer into cylindrical graphite molds in one or two layers, followed by vacuum sintering of each of the layers. The graphite molds used had either a smooth surface or a surface with six transverse grooves that formed six stiffeners on the surface of the sintered bodies. The sintering temperature was selected by the proposed method, above and below the proposed method, as well as by the known method (see table).
As a result of sintering, cylindrical porous plates with a thickness of 3 mm were obtained. Flat samples were cut from the plates and tested for three-point bending at room temperature. The obtained values of the temporary tensile strength in bending are presented in the table.
Further, for each alloy and each sintering temperature, the minimum plate thickness was determined to ensure that there was no failure at the required pressure drop across the plate. The value of the required pressure drop in this case was chosen equal to 3 atm. Based on the obtained values of the tensile strength, the required thickness was first determined approximately by a calculation method, and then more accurately by an experimental method, in which a set of plates sintering by 0.2 mm in thickness was sintered and these plates were tested for destruction under pressure drop in (3, 0 ± 0.1) atm. The results of determining the minimum thickness of the plates, ensuring the absence of destruction in these conditions, are presented in the table.
The so obtained plates for each alloy and each sintering temperature of the minimum thickness were further tested for water throughput at a pressure of (1.0 ± 0.1) atm. The test results are presented in the table.
