Abstract
Description
The invention relates to veterinary medicine, in particular to methods for the prevention of acute respiratory diseases of calves and can be used to prevent diseases of the respiratory system, mainly acute respiratory infections of bacterial etiology.
Given the causes of acute respiratory diseases of calves, methods of preventing these diseases should be based both on the use of agents that increase the body's resistance, and antimicrobial agents that have a detrimental effect on microflora, which play a decisive role in the development of the disease. Among the drugs that are most widely used in veterinary practice to increase the body's resistance are vitamins, for example, from group B, as well as drugs that stimulate the reticuloendothelial system, in particular calcium gluconate, and antibiotics, nitrofuranic drugs, and sulfonamides as antimicrobial agents .
The most effective drugs are those that specifically act on the causative agent of the disease and increase the general resistance of the body, for example, serum-convalescents. However, the set of antibodies does not always correspond to the complete set of antigenic structure of the "local" microflora, which reduces its effectiveness.
The purpose of the invention is improving efficiency. This goal is achieved by the simultaneous use of blood serum of convalescents and the drug "glucofur" containing phthazine, furagin, glucose, ascorbic acid, thiamine bromide and fodder yeast or wheat bran in the following ratio, wt. %: Phthazine 4.8-5.2 Furagin 0.9-1.1 Glucose 1.8-2.2 Ascorbic acid 1.3-1.5 Thiamine bromide 1.8-2.2
Fodder yeast or wheat bran is up to 100.0, and the introduction is carried out orally 2 times a day at a dose of 0.2-0.3 g / kg of animal weight for 4-6 days.
The drug glucofur is used for diarrheal diseases of calves, and on November 4, 1991, guidance on its use in veterinary medicine was approved as a therapeutic and prophylactic agent for diarrheal diseases of calves.
Convalescent blood serum provides a specific effect on pathogens, which is enhanced by the antimicrobial effect against pathogenic and opportunistic microflora due to the use of phthazine and furagin as part of the preparation, as well as general strengthening and stimulating enzymatic processes and the reticuloendothelial system in animals, with glucose, ascorbic acid, thiamine bromide and fodder yeast.
The effectiveness of prophylaxis with the simultaneous use of serum of convalescents and glucofur was determined in the farms of the Nizhny Novgorod region in the farms that are dysfunctional in acute respiratory diseases of calves due to exposure to pathogenic and conditionally pathogenic microflora on the body. The greatest etiological significance of the selected microflora was streptococci, staphylococci, mycoplasmas, chlamydia, protea.
18% .Clinical disease was characterized by an increase in body temperature to 41.3 ° C, refusal of food, mucopurulent nasal discharge, lacrimation and cough. With autopsy, as a rule, the pharyngeal and bronchial nodes were enlarged. The highest incidence in the household 36.4-48.7 was observed among calves in the first three weeks of life. Mortality was up to 18%.
The disease arose against the background of improper conditions of feeding and keeping animals associated with the use of incomplete diets and unsanitary conditions for keeping animals.
The method is illustrated by examples.
