Кабель состоит из многожильного световода из тонких оптических волокон 1, контактных колец 2, 3 и 4, 5 на концах изделия. На наружной поверхности световода имеется гибкая изоляционная оболочка 6 между кольцами 2 и 5, поверх нее расположена защитная оплетка 7 из тонких медных проводников, которая припаивается к внутренним кольцам 3 и 4. Поверх оплетки 7 надета защитная изоляционная и механическая оболочка 8. Медная оплетка 7 выполняет функцию одного из проводников. В качестве второго проводника используется металлизированный слой, напыленный на боковые стороны всех стеклянных волокон.
