Abstract
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION: Graphite electrodes are assembled from separate blocks by means of nipples, contain a hollow channel made from the central zones to upstream portions of the side surface of the electrode. Improving the quality of electrotechnical periclase smelted from magnesia raw material is ensured by the fact that gases are removed from the reaction sub-electrode zone through hollow channels of the indicated configuration. 2 ill.
Description
The invention relates to electric arc smelting, in particular, to the design of an electrode for an electric arc furnace used to melt magnesian raw materials into electrotechnical periclase.
The purpose of the invention is to improve the quality of electrotechnical periclase smelted from magnesia raw materials and increase the mechanical strength of the electrode.
With this design of the electrode, the integrity of the nipples is maintained (channels do not pass through them), which provides an increase in the mechanical strength of the electrode.
Improving the quality of electrotechnical periclase smelted from magnesia raw material is ensured by efficient removal of gases containing volatile impurities from the sub-electrode zone through channels passing through the heated part of the electrode into the gas space of the furnace. This eliminates the passage of gases through the layer of the cold charge and the unheated part of the electrode, the condensation of volatile impurities on the surface of the pieces and small particles of the charge and in the cold upper portion of the vertical central channel and their return as condensate to the melt.
In FIG. 1 shows the proposed grafted electrode: in Fig. 2, a longitudinal section is the same.
Полые каналы могут быть выполнены наклонно к оси электрода (фиг.1), (участки 4).The electrode consists of blocks 1. interconnected by nipples 2 screwed into the nipple sockets 3. Hollow channels can be made obliquely to the axis of the electrode (Fig. 1), (sections 4).
Полые каналы могут быть выполнены содержащими участки 5, расположенные по оси электрода между ниппельными гнездами , и поперечно расположенные участки 6 (фиг.2).Hollow channels can be made containing sections 5 located along the axis of the electrode between the nipple sockets, and transversely located sections 6 (figure 2).
