Description
Acoustothermometry [1] is considered one of the promising methods of temperature control in medicine. The prospects of acoustothermometry in solving medical problems [2] are due to the unique physical characteristics of the method. Acoustic thermometry sensitivity is up to 0.1 degrees, the diagnostic depth is more than 5 cm. Non-invasiveness and passivity of measurements make it possible to perform thermometry without surgical intervention and in the absence of external effects on the body. Weak absorption of ultrasound of the millimeter and submillimeter range in biological tissue allows the creation of compact focusable antennas [3] that measure at one or even several points of the medium under study.
(APT).However, in modern medicine, more complex systems (thermotomographs) are required that would map the temperature in the broadest possible region of the diagnosed organism with millimeter spatial resolution. The possibilities of constructing acoustic thermotomographs have been the subject of several works [4–7]. At the same time, the prospects for creating passive acoustic thermotomographs were associated, first of all, with the use of a large number of antennas that scan the object along various directions and record the measurement results in computer memory, after which the depth temperature profile is reconstructed using reconstructive tomography (APT) algorithms.
The main disadvantages of such systems are: the need for scanning, the technical complexity of placing a large number of acoustic sensors on the surface of the object, and the inability to control the accuracy of temperature mapping when using ART algorithms. Thus, the described thermotomographic systems [4-7] were not able to demonstrate their effectiveness in solving real medical problems.
50%).This application proposes to use a fundamentally different approach to passive acoustic thermotomography, based on multi-frequency acoustic reception. Since the acoustic absorption coefficient in biological tissue depends on the frequency γ (f) ≈0.23 (cm -1 MHz -1 ) f (MHz) [8], when performing independent acoustic measurements at several frequencies, it becomes possible to determine the temperature at several characteristic depths γ (f) -1 . The closest analogue of the proposed approach is the principle of multispectral acoustothermometry, proposed in [9]. A significant drawback of the principle of multispectral acoustothermometry [9] is the presence of “blind” frequency gaps near the antiresonant frequencies of the piezoelectric transducer (since in [9] it is proposed to use only multiple resonant harmonics of the piezoelectric transducer). For example, a sensor with resonant harmonics at 1, 3, 5 MHz would make it possible to determine the temperature at three characteristic distances of 4.5, 1.5, and 0.9 cm, respectively. The temperature at intermediate depths corresponding to antiresonance frequencies (including in a very wide range of depths from 1.5 cm to 4.4 cm) would remain, generally speaking, unknown. In addition, the proposed principle of multispectral acoustothermometry using resonant harmonics of the piezoelectric transducer [9] excludes the possibility of using piezoelectric transducers with quarter-wave antireflection layers [10] (which means a relative loss of sensitivity through a decrease in antenna efficiency by up to 50%).
A more effective technical solution, devoid of the above drawbacks, will be an acoustic thermotomograph based on the piezoelectric transducer shown in figure 1. The scheme uses a broadband acoustic sensor with one or more antireflective layers (providing a sensor efficiency of up to 90%), which measures thermal acoustic noise in the continuous spectral range. For example, modern technical means make it possible to manufacture a broadband acoustic sensor with an operating frequency range from 0.5 MHz to 4 MHz. The use of a sensor with such a working frequency band in an acoustic thermotomograph circuit means that the spectrum of a signal measured from biological tissue will contain information about the temperature distribution in a continuous depth range from 1 to 9 cm (without “blind” gaps in this interval).
To isolate the signals responsible for the temperature at various depths, it is possible (as in [9]) to use a set of independent tunable analog bandpass filters and associated detectors and integrators (Fig. 2). It is important to understand that in order to obtain more accurate data on the temperature distribution at various depths, a larger number of independent frequency channels are required that perform filtering, detection, and integration. However, the manufacture of such a circuit in analogue performance even for a small number of independent frequency filters is a very difficult technical task. In addition, the manufacture of a large number of channels leads to a significant increase in the weight and size of the thermomotograph.
Для этого предлагается реализовать фильтрацию, интегрирование, детектирование сигнала не в аналоговом, а в цифровом исполнении с использованием современных компьютерных средств, то есть осуществить аналогово-цифровое преобразование сигнала на выходе антенного блока (фиг.1).The current level of development of technology can significantly simplify the principle of building an auxiliary unit (figure 2). To this end, it is proposed to implement filtering, integration, signal detection not in analog but in digital design using modern computer tools, that is, to carry out analog-to-digital signal conversion at the output of the antenna unit (Fig. 1).
[12].The task to be solved by the device, proposed as a utility model, is to measure acoustic noise in several frequency ranges using modern technical means, as well as to record the measured signals into a computer in real time. The presence of reliable data on the acoustic noise spectrum of a heated medium allows the unknown temperature distribution in this medium to be restored using the same computer by solving the inverse acoustothermometry problem formulated, for example, in [11] based on algorithms for solving similar problems [12].
