Abstract
An entomological cage made of wood and organic glass, creating optimal microclimate conditions for the existence of bees, a sterile dropper used as a feeder according to the diameter of the tube, which corresponds to the diameter of the holes in the walls of the cage.
Description
The utility model relates to the field of biology and entomology, and in particular to devices designed for experimental work in the field of entomology, as well as for separating the uterus from the family in order to prevent swarming.
The purpose of the utility model: conducting in laboratory conditions research work on bees placed in entomological cages, collecting and moving bees in practical beekeeping.
In the practice of beekeeping, entomological cages [1], which have a metal body (Fig. 1), are used to obtain queen bees and to carry out scientific research. Such cages are not convenient enough to use, since the metal case does not provide the creation of natural living conditions for bees that are used to living in wooden beehives. When using metal cages in laboratory conditions, bees experience a sharp change in the microclimate (temperature and relative humidity), which can be the reason for inaccurate results or death of bees. The use of metal cages causes inconvenience in the work: insufficient visual review for the experimenter.
In order to overcome this inconvenience, an entomological cage is proposed (Fig. 2, 3) in which three walls are made of wood and three are made of organic glass, having 30 holes 3 mm in diameter. As a feeder, we propose to use an ordinary sterile dropper, in which most of the tube is removed (a segment of up to 5 cm is left), adapted to the openings of plexiglass. To place the bees in the cage or remove them from it, we propose to make the upper surface (glass ceiling) movable. The glass walls of the cages create the conditions for the visual determination of the state of the bees and the accounting. The wooden case and plexiglass walls are more adapted to the natural habitat of bees. Using a wooden cage, you can collect bees from the hive without harming them. To do this, substitute the slightly open part of the lid to the notch of the hive. With sufficient accumulation of bees in the cage, the lid is carefully closed.
