Description
The proposed utility model relates to the field of water purification, specifically to the purification of water from heavy metals, and is intended for use in industrial and domestic water purification systems for the purification of heavy metals from water previously purified from mechanical impurities and organic contaminants.
Most modern technologies for purifying water from heavy metals are based on the use of fibrous ion-exchange sorbents that differ from granular sorbents in the best adsorption and performance characteristics. To improve the quality of cleaning and increase the service life of sorbents, contaminated water should be previously purified from mechanical impurities, surface-active substances and oil products, the adsorption of which on the surface of sorbents reduces the efficiency of extraction of ionic contaminants. For this purpose, flow-through devices with multilayer loading are most often used, in which filter layers with different sorption properties are arranged in series, and the flow direction of the purified water is perpendicular to the orientation plane of the sorbent layers [RU 2186036, C1; RU 2038316 C1; 2326715, C1; RU 26548, U1; RU 34526, U1, etc.]. The use of several layers with a load having different physical characteristics and sorption properties complicates the design and makes it difficult to optimize the operation mode of such devices. A common drawback of devices in which the direction of the stream of purified water is perpendicular to the orientation of the layers of the sorbent charge is the relatively short contact time of the purified water with the sorbent at high flow resistance, which negatively affects the efficiency of the cleaning process.
To increase the contact time of the purified water with the sorbent according to the invention [RU 2027677, C1], the layers with filter loading of different nature are separated from each other by horizontal perforated partitions with a strictly defined location of the holes and the ratio of their areas, providing a more uniform distribution of the flow of the cleaned liquid and its longer contact with the sorbent. In the utility model [RU 13207, U1], containing alternating layers of activated carbon, ion-exchange material and coarse and fine filters, the contact efficiency between the purified water and the filter layers located perpendicular to the fluid flow is improved by means of special flow dividers of complex shape, contributing to turbulence and fluid mixing. Both devices are characterized by the complexity of the design, the inability to simultaneously regenerate sorbents with different sorption characteristics and high resistance to liquid flow.
In view of the foregoing, it seems advisable to pre-purify water from mechanical and organic contaminants, and then conduct post-treatment of heavy metal ions on a monosorbent with ion-exchange properties.
The device described in [RU 2112582, C1,] is taken as a prototype of the proposed utility model. The device includes a casing with a bottom and a lid with an opening through which purified water flows, and a filter element located inside the casing, having perforated side walls and a central perforated tube placed coaxially to the side walls, around which layers of filtering and separation materials are wound around a roll. The cover of the casing is removable, the housing of the filter element is placed with a gap relative to the walls of the casing, and the cover of the filter element is hermetically connected with its housing and the casing of the device. The pipe leading to the water to be cleaned is located in the lower part of the casing, and the water seeping through the layers of the sorbent wound into a roll is cleaned and enters the central tube, from which it is discharged through an opening in the cover. The layers of filter material, separated by layers of porous or mesh material, are rigidly attached to the end walls of the filter element.
The disadvantage of the prototype is that the flow of purified water moves perpendicular to the plane of the layers of filter material, which leads to an increase in resistance to flow, despite the presence of a mesh or porous separator of the sorbent layers.
The objective of this utility model is to create an easy-to-use device for the purification of water from heavy metals, in which the extraction of heavy metals is achieved with minimal hydraulic losses.
The problem is solved by the proposed device for the purification of water from heavy metals, including a cylindrical body with a diffuser and a confuser attached to it at opposite ends for water inlet and outlet and placed at least one filter element coaxial to it, which is folded into a roll of a web of fibrous ion-exchange material bonded to a corrugated rigid release material, while the connections of the housing to the diffuser and the confuser are detachable, di the roll meter coincides with the inner diameter of the body, and the flow of purified water is oriented along the surface of the web of fibrous ion-exchange material.

Figure 2 schematically shows the proposed device in section. In section AA, a spiral trace of a two-layer tape consisting of bonded layers of a filtering cloth and a separation material is conventionally depicted in the form of concentric circles. View B schematically shows the location of the channels for the flow of water formed by the gaps between the filter cloth and the corrugations of the separation material.
Figure 3 shows a diagram of a device using a composite filter element.
Figure 4 schematically shows a variant of the inclusion of the device in the highway, allowing you to change the direction of fluid flow: circuits 4a and 46 correspond to the positions of the 4-way valve, providing, respectively, direct and reverse flow of water.
6.The device comprises a cylindrical housing 1 made of any material inert with respect to water, and a diffuser 2 and a confuser 3 located at opposite ends of the housing and attached to the housing using detachable, for example, threaded, connections (not shown in the figures). Through threaded or other suitable connections through the diffuser and confuser, the device is included in the main water supply. Inside the housing there is a filter element 4, which is a roll of a web of fibrous ion-exchange material 5 located coaxially with the corrugated spacer material 6 located coaxially to the housing.
Both non-woven and woven fabric can be used as the fibrous ion-exchange material, however, a woven fabric is preferably used, which, unlike the non-woven fabric, keeps its shape well, does not swell and does not crumple under the pressure of water. As the ion-exchange material, a web based on acidic ion exchangers, for example VION KN-1, or polyampholytes, for example VION AN-1, or combinations thereof, can be used.
As a corrugated release material, a 0.05-0.5 mm thick foil made of stainless steel or other water-neutral corrugated material can be used.
1.To prevent the web from being knocked under the pressure of the liquid, it is fastened to the corrugated release material in any suitable way (for example, rivets or stainless steel brackets) in several randomly located places 7, and then the resulting two-layer tape is rolled up. The outer diameter of the roll 4 coincides with the inner diameter of the cylinder 1. When using one filter element, its length is equal to the length of the cylindrical body 1.
It is possible to use a composite filter element in which each shortened section 8 is arranged as described above, and their total length is equal to the length of the cylindrical body.
Corrugated separation material in the design of the filter element has a dual function: on the one hand, it plays the role of a frame that prevents knocking and clumping of the filter cloth, and on the other hand, forms channels for the flow of the cleaned fluid through the filter element with minimal hydraulic losses. The axis of the channels formed when the tape is rolled into a roll, coincide with the axis of the cylindrical body 1 and with the fluid flow lines. With a corrugation width of about 1 mm, channels are formed with a cross-sectional area of about 1 mm, which, with low hydraulic resistance, ensure effective contact of the liquid with the sorbent and effective absorption of heavy metals.
The device operates as follows. Pre-purified from suspended particles and organic impurities, water passes through a diffuser 2 to a filter element 4 located in the cylindrical part of the housing 1, while the flow rate decreases in proportion to the ratio of the areas of the wide and narrow parts of the diffuser. When moving along the channels formed by the corrugations and the sorbent web, water interacts with the ion-exchange material throughout, with turbulence in the flow increasing the efficiency of ion exchange. The movement of the water flow along the layers of the filter material, and not perpendicular to them, as in the prototype, provides the extraction of metal ions with minimal hydraulic losses. At the exit of the device through the confuser 3, purified water restores the speed of movement and enters the consumer.
Filling of free ion vacancies on the surface of the sorbent leads to a decrease in its adsorption characteristics and requires replacement of the material or its regeneration. The proposed detachable design allows, if necessary, to easily replace the filter elements.
Deactivation of the sorbent material occurs non-uniformly: as the device is used, the sites of the sorbent located closer to the inlet are first deactivated. For easy partial replacement of the filter material, it is convenient to use a multi-section loading, as shown in FIG. 3 in the form of several successively installed short filter elements. In this case, sections 8 that have lost activity can be easily replaced with new ones and regenerated by conventional methods outside the device.
The service life of the device can be increased by including it in the line as shown in Fig. 4 by means of a 4-way valve 9, which allows changing the direction of the fluid flow to the opposite (4a and 4b), thus switching the increased sorption load to more active sections of the sorbent .
