Abstract
The present invention which relates to the instrument for measuring the thermal conductivity of liquid samples at atmospheric pressure is based on the transient hot wire method. The specificity of the instrument is that instead of a long, thin wire made of platinum (Pt) for detecting the change of sample temperature, a more mechanically resistant, needle-shaped sensor is used. The sensor is significantly more robust, easier to clean and maintain, and more durable than free-standing thin wire. The instrument consists of one or more measuring cells with a needle-shaped sensor, which allow operation with one or multiple samples simultaneously and a significant increase of work efficiency, especially in the characterization of multicomponent mixtures. An integral part of the instrument is the corresponding software that allows regulation of the measuring parameters, data collection and processing of the measurement results. The instrument can be used wherever there is a need for determining the thermal conductivity of liquid samples.
