Abstract
A diagnostic acid for the determn. of Syphilis prepd. using a strain of Treponema pallida registered under No13423 in the collection of the 'Cantacuzino' Institute Bucharest. This strain is grown on a niostrate contg. L-cystine, thyoglycollic acid, disodium phosphate and an acid hydrolysate of caseine to which 15% of an inactivated equine serum is added. The culture is maintained at 115 deg. C for 20 mins. The prepn. is filtered lyophilised at -58 deg. C and dried at not more than 30 deg. C for 48 hours, then dissolved in distilled water, representing 1/10 of the volume of the original culture. The volume is standardised, 1.2% glycine and 0.02% Thimerosal is added. The prepn. is distributed into vials, lyophilised and the vials are closed in an atmosphere of argon.
