Inventia se refera la un procedeu de obtinere a oxidului de cadmiu din suspensia de hidroxid de cadmiu provenit de la prelucrarea hidrometalurgica a subproduselor metalurgiei zincului si plumbului sau din alte materii prime cu continut de cadmiu, prin solubilizarea acestuia cu acid sulfuric la pH=1,5...2, purificarea solutiei de CdSO indice 4 de fier si metale comune cu apa amoniacala si hidroxid de sodiu, precipitarea cadmiului din solutie cu carbonat de sodiu si calcinarea carbonatului de cadmiu la 410...430 degree C.
