Vana plana, care reprezinta organul de obturare a orificiilor practicate în barajele hidrotehnice pentru alimentarea cu apa a unor hidroagregate, ecluze, prize pentru scopuri industriale sau agricole de fund ale lacurilor artificiale, rezolva folosirea betonului de lestare a vanei, cu element principal de rezistenta în locul metalului prin turnarea acestuia într-o carcasa metalica ce determina forma si dimensiunile vanei, respectiv printr-o armare corespunzatoare a acesteia.
