Prezenta inventie se refera la un catalizator pentru conversia monoxidului de carbon si la un procedeu de obtinere a acestuia. Cel putin 60 procente greutate din acest catalizator consta din amestecuri de oxizi de cupru si aluminiu sub forma spinel si 60...100 procente din cuprul prezent este legat la oxidul de aluminiu, spinel, raportul atomic între cupru si aluminiu, Cu:Al, fiind de 0,25...0,50. Catalizatorul în sine mai contine si 1-20 procente în greutate oxid de zinc care este prezent în porii spinelului.
