Abstract

The invention relates to a knitted fabric intended to be employed in manufacturing light garments and to a process for making the same. According to the invention, the knitted fabric is a 1 x 1 rib type fabric with tuck stitches and transferred shanks, while inclining in opposite directions the normal rib stitches (O.S) and the corresponding flat stitches (O.S), in successive rows, and maintaining vertical the axis of the wales of tuck stitches (O.R) with transferred shanks (1, 2, 3, 4). The process claimed by the invention consists in achieving some piecing-up points between the shanks of the rib-type tuck stitch and the flat sinker loop, with large winding angles between the structure elements, resulting in the reinforcement of pair stitches wales while increasing the fabric lengthwise resistance and balancing its resiliency along the main directions.
