Abstract

The invention relates to plastic closures for containers having externally threaded neck, and especially to tamperproof closures with captive band. According to the invention, the tamperproof cap is provided with a cylinder-shaped band (11) joined by a plurality of frangible bridges (13b and 13c) and at least one extended non-frangible bridge (13a) to the free edge of the skirt (16) of the closure (10), the band (11) having a segmented internal rib (18) engaging an external retaining flange (30) of the container (29) when the closure is applied to the container, an L-shaped slot (17) extending through the side wall of the band (11), the horizontal leg (61) the end of which terminates directly adjacent to or under the non-frangible bridge (13a), and a frangible region (63) of the band extending from the terminating end (62) of the horizontal leg (61) downwards to the lower edge of the band (11).
