The invention relates to a device for protecting the passengers on shutting vehicle doors, meant to be used in the transportation field. According to the invention, the device comprises a door (1) wherein means (2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8) for detecting the presence of a passenger between the shutting doors are provided, said means co-working with a door opening control element (9 and 10), while a protective element (11) embeds the means for detecting the passenger's presence. The passenger caught between the shutting doors will activate the door opening, thus avoiding to be injured and preventing the door damage. The claimed device can be employed in most types of transportation vehicles.
