Abstract

The invention relates to a process of sticking a covering to an upholstery particularly made of polyurethane foam, especially used for chair cushions, and it also relates to a die for applying the process. The process consists in placing a foam upholstery (5) and a covering (1) into a cold forming die (2) and securing the covering by means of a fastening frame (3), spreading an adhesive (4) on the inner walls of the covering (1), followed by heating the foam upholstery surface (5) at a high temperature, stopping the heating after the predetermined temperature was reached and immediately applying the heated foam upholstery (5) to the inner walls of the covering (1), said inner walls being covered with adhesive (4), so that the heat is instantaneously transmitted by direct contact with the adhesive (4) resulting in fast hardening thereof, then opening the cold forming die (2) and removing the foam upholstery (5) together with the covering (1). The die consists of a tank(15) and a cover (16) hinged-mounted and equipped with splint pins (17) which are either screwed, welded or form one piece with the die, each said splint pin being provided with a washer (13) made of rigid material, slightly forcedly mounted and constituting the positioning and fastening means, meant to be transferred onto the adequate surface of the foam upholstery (5) after it has been formed and removed from the die.
