Abstract

The invention refers to a procedure of production of cathode electrodes for alkaline piles and batteries of the HgO/KOH/Zn electrochemical system. According to the procedure, in the first stage a mixture of powders is homogenised, with granulation below 75, containing in weight percent HgO 90 %, electrographite 7.4 % , polyethylene 2.6 %, in restricted proportion depending on the morphology of the particles of the powder. The mixture is pressed with a pressing force of 0.4...0.6 tf/cm<2> in a matrix with the desired configuration, thus obtaining the pressed cathode element. Subsequently a current collector is fabricated with the same configuration through marginal drawing or point welding with impulse current of the component elements of its geometrical developed view. The material used is nickel sheet or nickel-plated steel sheet with 0.08...0.14 mm thickness, the sheet being previously perforated with holes of 0.05...0.15 mm<2> at distances of 1...2 mm. The pressed cathode element from the depolarised material is inserted into the collector.
