Coupling takes place between 1-hydroxy-2-naphthyl-amido -(2'-Cl-5-aniline) and methacryloyl- chloride in molten state or in an aq. medium with no organic solvent being present, at a molar ratio of 1:2.4 for 2 hrs. at 20-80 deg.C. Overall yield:85%.
