Abstract

Shelf-stable citrus beverage package comprises a 1-piece folded blank lined with glycol-modified PET (GMPET) and contg. a citrus beverage comprising levels of peel oil and l-ascorbic acid approaching those of an equiv. amt. of beverage stored in a glass container. The substrate for the blank is paper, paperboard, fireboard or bleached kraft paper, and the carton has rectangular crossection with fold-in top and bottom closures. Pref. a layer of oxygen barrier material is situated between the substrate and the GMPET. Pref. the outside of the carton is also coated with GMPET. Pref. the GMPET i's uncrystallised. Other substrates may be used in place of the paper blank, e.g. metal foil, ABS, SAN, PVC, polystyrene, polycarbonate, polyethylene, polypropylene, etc.
