Abstract

Assay of Streptococcus Gp. A includes (1) prepn. of F(ab')2 fragment of IgG anti-Streptococcus Gp. A antibody; (2) binding of this fragment to a solid support to provide sites for binding of antigenic determinant of Streptococcus Gp. A without cross-binding with anti-Streptococcus antibody itself or Staphylococcus organism; (3) labelling of F(ab')2 fragment or IgG anti-Streptococcus A antibody with a detectable labelling moiety; (4) reaction of the prods. of steps (2) and (3) with the test medium; and (5) detection of the label on the reagent of step (3). The anti-Streptococcus Gp. A antibody is reacted with N-acetyl-D-glucosamine (I), followed by a cleavage reaction to remove the (I)-contg. moiety of the antibody.
