Solids from wet-process phosphoric acid preparation are sepd. in the following process: solids content is increased to 7% by concentrating the phosphoric acid to 54% P2O5. The mixt. is passed to a separator to give an effluent having a solids content of about 15% and a filtrate with a solids content of 0.5%. The effluent is centrifuged, to give a pulp with a solids content of 50-60%. Pref. part of the filtrate from the separator is recycled back into the separator, and part of the filtrate from the centrifuge is recycled back to the separator. The method is simpler and cheaper to carry out than known methods.
