Abstract

The invention concerns a method for treating industrial effluents to eliminate organic and/or mineral pollution, comprising the following steps: acidifying the effluent by introducing the latter in an acid capable of making the organic matters insoluble; filtering the effluent to eliminate the insoluble matters; electrolysis of the effluent in the presence of a pure chloride or sulphate catalytic solution containing cations having at least two degrees of stable oxidation; and neutralising the effluent by introducing therein an alkaline base in amounts adapted to obtain a substantially neutral pH.
