Przez piiogenacje ropy naftowej w tem¬ peraturze, np. 650—750° uzyskuje sie znacz¬ ne ilasci gaizu (40—70 m3 ze 100 kg ropy) otraz smoly (35—45 kg), zawierajacej zniaez- ne ilosci weglowodorów aromatycznych.Sposób pirogenacji, bedacy przedmiotem niniejszego wymaliazku, m!ai na celu: 1) ula¬ twienie wykonania pirogenacji i 2) zwiek¬ szenie ilosci niektórych skladników simoly i gaizu, np. ndlektórycih weglowodorów aroma- tycziniych ii olefinowyoh, szicziególnfej przy piirógeiniacji ciezkich, desitylaitów lub resztek podestylacyjnych ropy.Sposób polega na uprzedniem t. zw. „kra¬ kowaniu" ropy, jej destylatów lub resztek po- de^tylacyjinyich, czyli ogrzawiainiu ich bez do¬ stepu powietrza do 400—500°. W celu otrzy¬ mania wiekszej ilosci produktów trudniej lotnych (w rodzaju ciezkiej nafty lub oleju gazowego) obok inuiezniaczinej ilosci gaizów i asfaltu (koksu) krakowanie lepiej jest do- koniyiwac pod cisnieoieam np. okolo 20—25 atim.
