Abstract

At both ends of the winding (1), there are taps connected to the input terminals of contactors (3). The output terminals of the same phases of all contactors (3) are shorted together. When the transformer is connected to the power grid, there are always two, and only two, contactors engaged: one on one part of the winding (1.1) and the other on the other part of the winding (1.2). It is advantageous to divide the winding (1): with an even number of turns into two equal parts (1.1) and (1.2), and with an odd number of turns, one part of the winding (1.1) has one turn more than the other part of the winding (12). Each tap of the winding (1) is preferably connected to two contactors (3), with R resistors in the circuit of one of the contactors, or each tap of the winding is preferably connected to one contactor without R resistors, and every other tap is connected to the second contactor in the circuit of which R resistors are present. Connecting the transformer Tr to the power network takes place in two cycles: first, the contactors without R resistors connected to the extreme taps (3 and 4) are switched on, and then the circuit breaker (4) supplying the transformer Tr is switched on. Transformer Tr is switched off by first switching off the circuit breaker (4) and then the contactors on the active taps. Switching the active tap to the adjacent tap that is to be active is performed according to the following algorithm: the contactor with resistor R, whose input terminals are connected to the active tap or to the adjacent tap that is to be active, is switched on; the contactor without resistor R connected to the active tap is switched off; the contactor without resistor R, whose input terminals are connected to the tap that is to be active, is switched on; the contactor with resistor R is switched off.
