Abstract

The subject of the application is a method of supporting the decontamination of crude oil tanks with chemical agents, carried out in the final stage of tank cleaning, after recirculation, which consists in washing the tank volume using alternately non-polar and polar decontamination medium, with the addition of at least one surfactant in at least one from the media. The non-polar decontamination medium derived from crude oil processing and/or the regeneration of waste oils and/or fresh base oil is in the form of an average petroleum fraction with a kinematic viscosity of 0.8 - 14 mm2/s at a temperature of 100°C , characterized by a boiling point range of not more than 5% distilling to 200°C and not less than 90% distilling to 540°C, and the polar decontamination medium is in the form of water. Wherein the at least one decontamination medium contains from 10 ppm to 5000 ppm of at least one surfactant selected from the group consisting of; anionic surfactants - alkyl ether sulfates, sodium diethylhexyl sulfosuccinate, sodium lauryl sulfonate, non-ionic surfactants - ethoxylated/propoxylated 2-ethyl-1-hexanol, HLB from 9.5 to 10.5, ethoxylated alkoxypolyethyleneoxy-ethanol diols, glycol triethylnonyl ether polyethylene, dinonyl-phenyl polyoxyethylene, a linear block copolymer of ethylene oxide and propylene oxide, which is a derivative of propylene glycol. In addition, from 1% m/m to 50% m/m of a non-polar medium is used in a single washing cycle in relation to the estimated amount of sediment in the tank before the decontamination process begins, and from 1 to 20 times more of a polar medium in a single washing cycle, in relation to volume of the non-polar medium. Preferably, after removing contaminants with a non-polar and polar decontamination medium, the gas phase is adsorbed onto a bed of solid sorbent, which involves circulating the gas phase at a temperature from 25 to 65°C from the tank through a sorption column filled with a bed of activated carbon.
