Istota polega na tym, że wybrana część konstrukcyjna drzwi posiada co najmniej fragment powierzchni (5) przepuszczający wiązkę światła. Zespół skrytek z ograniczonym dostępem, w szczególności zespół skrytek pocztowych, zawiera korpus (7) ze skrytkami posiadającymi przyporządkowany element świetlny (10). Każda skrytka posiada ścianki, w tym ściankę tylną oraz zamocowane przegubowo drzwi posiadające zaczep (11), współpracujący z zamkiem (9) osadzonym w korpusie (7) zespołu skrytek.
