Abstract

The subject of the invention is a method of utilization of post-fermentation sludge from the process of co-fermentation of sludge from water treatment and municipal sewage treatment. The post-fermentation sludge intended for disposal is dehydrated to a moisture content of less than 20% mass, mechanically comminuted to a grain size of <10 mm, introduced into a fluidizing furnace over a heated fluidized bed in a continuous manner and incinerated while maintaining a constant bed temperature at between 650°C and 1000°C. The agent that fluidizes the bed material is air, which is blown in counter-current to the introduced material, in the amount ensuring the creation of an oxidizing zone in the entire volume of the bed. If the bed temperature drops below 850°C, a regulated stream of additional gaseous fuel is introduced. After the combustible parts are removed, the mineral substance is collected from the fluidized bed. The main components of the obtained material are quartz, aluminosilicates and iron oxides. The proportions of the ingredients depend on the input material. The chemically inert mineral material obtained in this way is used as an environmentally neutral ballast material or as an additive to mortars, concretes and building ceramics.
