Abstract

The present invention relates to a method and system for removing nitrogen oxides (NOx), metallic mercury (Hg0) and sulfur dioxide (SO2) from boiler flue gas. The method of removing nitrogen oxides (NOx), metallic mercury (Hg0) and sulfur dioxide (SO2) from flue gas with the separation of denitrification and desulphurization products is characterized by the fact that nitrogen oxide and metallic mercury are oxidized in the flue gas channel with ozone, and the resulting nitrogen pentoxide in the reaction with water vapor, it forms nitric acid, which is removed from the flue gas in the oxidation chamber as a result of the absorption of HNO3 on the surface of the wetted packing. The nitric acid formed in the chamber circulates in a closed circuit and can finally be used, e.g. by creating nitrogen fertilizer. Nitrogen oxides remaining behind the reactor in the flue gas (including NO2) are absorbed together with sulfur dioxide and oxidized mercury in the wet flue gas desulphurization installation. The presence of NO2 and ozone in the exhaust gas supports the oxidation of CaSO3 to CaSO4 in the tank under the absorber.
