Abstract

The device for verifying the operation and calibration of devices for measuring intraocular pressure, especially Goldmann tonometers, is characterized by the fact that it consists of the upper (1) and lower (2) parts of the body, which have a recess on the inside, as well as a channel connecting the body with the pump infusion, the front panel (5) is attached to the above-mentioned upper and lower parts of the body, from the side of the recess, having an opening in the central part, while between the front panel (5) and the upper (1) and lower parts (2) ) of the body, there is a flexible membrane simulating the cornea of the eyeball (7). In addition, the space inside the device, created by the recess and the tubule, is fully filled with a physiological solution with an osmolality corresponding to the fluid filling the front parts of the eyeball, the so-called aqueous humor. The method of verifying the operation and calibration of devices for measuring intraocular pressure, especially Goldmann tonometers, is that it is carried out using the device described above, proceeding in such a way that a physiological solution causes a change in hydrostatic pressure in the range from 6 mmHg to 60 mmHg , preferably increasing the value of this pressure with an accuracy of 0.01 mmHg, causing the elastic membrane (7) to deform, which is then moistened with artificial tears with contrast, a tonometer is applied to it and its operation is verified, in the case of discrepancies above ± 0.5 mmHg is calibrated according to the type of tonometer being calibrated.
