Abstract
The method of producing urea hydroperoxide by the addition reaction of hydrogen peroxide to urea, by applying an aqueous hydrogen peroxide solution to a moving bed of dry powdered urea, consists in the process being carried out under reduced pressure of 1-15 kPa at a temperature of 15-65ºC with a molar ratio of peroxide hydrogen to urea from 0.8:1 to 1.2:1, where the addition of hydrogen peroxide to urea is accompanied by the evaporation of water from the reaction mixture, and after the synthesis is completed, the product is dried at a temperature not higher than 60ºC to a water content below 2% and that preferably together with the urea, a stabilizer in the form of a powdered solid substance is introduced into the reaction medium in an amount of up to 3% by weight, based on the weight of the urea. The urea hydroperoxide obtained by the method according to the invention, due to its bleaching properties, is used, among others, as an agent for bleaching hair, for bleaching cellulose fibers and paper, for decontamination and disinfection of fibers and textile products.
