The head for extruding polymer composites with reinforcement in the form of fiber sections has two transport channels, symmetrically positioned relative to the axis of extrusion of the composite, with a straight or profiled outline and circular cross-section, feeding the thermoplastic material (1) to the extrusion nozzle (3). The nozzle has an exit hole with a diameter between 0.3 - 0.5 mm, a length between 1 - 2.5 mm, and an entrance cone with an angle between 45 and 100 degrees. A reinforcing fiber transport channel with a length of 1 to 6 mm and a diameter of up to 0.2 mm is positioned along the extrusion axis. Properly selected geometric features of the nozzle exit opening ensure that the reinforcing fibers are positioned in the output material with a deviation from the extrusion axis of up to 20 degrees.
Description
Opis wynalazkuDescription of the invention
Przedmiotem wynalazku jest głowica do wytłaczania kompozytów polimerowych wykorzystywanych w addytywnych technologiach wytwarzania. The subject of the invention is a head for extrusion of polymer composites used in additive manufacturing technologies.
US 20140034214 A1.The technology of extruding polymeric thermoplastic materials into the desired shape is well known. The technology of producing three-dimensional details by means of computer-controlled layering of the fused thermoplastic material in many axes has been described in the patent US 5 340 433 A. This method is based on feeding and heating the thermoplastic material in the form of a wire with a circular cross-section, and then extrusion through a die with a strictly defined diameter in order to produce elements with defined geometrical properties. Devices based on feeding a thermoplastic material from two or more sides into an extrusion die are known, as shown, inter alia, in the patent US 20140034214 A1.
In any of the known inventions there is no method of extruding polymer composites exhibiting an orderly arrangement of short reinforcing fibers in additive manufacturing techniques.
Problemem jest brak możliwości uzyskania kompozytów polimerowych wykazujących uporządkowane ułożenie krótkich włókien zbrojeniowych w addytywnych technologiach wytwarzania. The problem is the inability to obtain polymer composites showing an orderly arrangement of short reinforcing fibers in additive manufacturing technologies.
The essence of the invention is to obtain a polymer composite at the exit from the extrusion head, in which the reinforcement material in the form of fibers of a certain length will be angularly deflected in relation to the axis of the head by at most 20 degrees.
The design of the head used in the method of extrusion of polymer composites with reinforcement in the form of fiber sections is characterized by the fact that the nozzle exit hole is characterized by: diameter between 0.3-0.5 millimeters, hole length between 1 and 2.5 millimeters, entrance cone with an angle between 45 and 100 degrees. The transport channels of the thermoplastic matrix material in the nozzle are arranged symmetrically on both sides of the head axis and deviated from it by an angle between 45 and 110 degrees, their outline may have simple or complex geometry. The reinforcement fiber transport channel is positioned along the extrusion axis and has a diameter in the range of 1 to 4 millimeters. The heating elements are positioned at a distance of 4 to 20 millimeters symmetrically to the head axis, allowing for an appropriate temperature distribution in the system.
The subject of the invention is shown in the drawings, in which Fig. 1 shows an example of the application of the extrusion method according to the invention, and Fig. 2 shows a cross-section of a head using this method.
Fig. 1 shows an example of an extrusion method according to the invention. The thermoplastic matrix material - 1 - in the form of a wire with a circular cross section with a diameter in the range of 1-4 millimeters, is fed to the extrusion die - 5 - through two transport channels symmetrically positioned in relation to the axis of extrusion of the composite, with a straight or profiled contour and a circular cross-section. Fibers of reinforcement material - 2 - with a length of 1 to 6 millimeters and a diameter of up to 0.2 millimeters are fed to the extrusion nozzle through a transport channel positioned axially to the extrusion axis. The region of the extrusion nozzle is heated by heating elements - 4 - to temperatures corresponding to the melting point of the thermoplastic material used. Their distance from the axis of the head is adjusted to obtain the appropriate temperature distribution in the system. The matrix material is melted within the nozzle and mixed with the fiber reinforcement - area 3. The nozzle exit opening - 6 - is characterized by: diameter between 0.3-0.5 millimeters, hole length between 1 and 2.5 millimeters, entrance cone with an angle between 45 and 100 degrees. The dimensions selected in this way ensure that the reinforcing fibers are positioned in the starting material - 7 - with a deviation from the extrusion axis by a maximum of 20 degrees. The result is an extruded composite polymer material with a thermoplastic as a matrix material and a reinforcement in the form of fibers with a specific orientation relative to the material extrusion axis.
Przekrój głowicy wykorzystującej opisaną powyżej metodę, według wynalazku, przedstawiono na fig. 2.
