Description

Opis wynalazkuDescription of the invention

The subject of the invention is a method of waterproofing the ground of an open landfill, especially for municipal or industrial waste.

A method of filling open landfills and sealing their surfaces with waste from power plants, combined heat and power plants or heating plants is known from Polish patent description No. 13 274, which consists in introducing a fly ash suspension in water with a weight ratio of ash to water equal to at least 1: 1 and on the landfill surface. seasoning it to solidify. Slags and other solid energy wastes can be introduced into the slurry. The known method of filling makes it possible to create a solidified mass made of fly ash in a landfill. This mass is characterized by a certain compressive strength and low water permeability. However, the beneficial effects are obtained when the fly ash has pronounced pozzolanic properties, and in the case when its pozzolanic properties are poor or absent, the obtained results are unsatisfactory. The ashes then remain poorly bound in the landfill, and the water can filter through their layer quite easily.

The aim of the invention is to develop a method of waterproofing the ground of an open landfill, especially intended for municipal or industrial waste, which would also involve the use of fly ashes generated during the combustion of hard coal in pulverized coal boilers, but which would ensure tight isolation of the landfill ground from waste and prevent the infiltration of pollutants from waste to the ground. This method would also provide the required sealing efficiency regardless of the properties of the fly ash used.

Do zawiesiny można wprowadzać wapno palone mielone w ilości 1 do 6%, a korzystnie 2 do 3% w stosunku do masy suchych popiołów lotnych znajdujących się w zawiesinie. Stosunek masowy popiołów lotnych do wody w zawiesinie ustala się przestrzegając warunku, aby zdolność zawiesiny do rozpływania się mierzona cylindrem Southarda, wynosiła 160 do 280 mm, a korzystnie 190 do 230 mm.The method of waterproofing the ground of an open landfill, especially for municipal or industrial waste, according to the invention, consists in introducing to the ground of the landfill a dense suspension in water of fly ashes produced during the combustion of coal in pulverized coal boilers, with a mass ratio of ashes to water greater than 1.4 kg of fly ashes. dry per 1 kg of water, according to which the sealing of the landfill base is carried out in 2 to 6 stages, preferably in 3 to 4 stages, with a 10 to 60 cm thick layer of fly ash suspension in water being introduced onto the landfill base at each stage, and preferably 15 to 25 cm, with successive layers being introduced after the previous layer has hardened, and prior to directing the fly ash suspension in water to the substrate to be sealed, metallurgical cement is added in the amount of 3 to 18% by weight, preferably 8 to 12% by weight. in relation to the mass of fly ash in the suspension. Blast cement may be replaced with Portland cement. Ground quicklime may be introduced into the suspension in an amount of 1 to 6%, preferably 2 to 3%, based on the weight of the dry fly ash in the suspension. The mass ratio of fly ash to water in the slurry is determined by observing that the spreadability of the slurry measured with the Southard cylinder is 160 to 280 mm, preferably 190 to 230 mm.

Sposób według wynalazku umożliwia wykonywanie uszczelnienia podłoża składowiska odkrytego odpadów stałych, zwłaszcza zaś komunalnych lub przemysłowych za pomocą samozestalającej się zawiesiny popiołów lotnych w wodzie, przy czym uszczelnienie spełnia wymagania stawiane wykładzinom mineralnym, a w szczególności wymóg, aby współczynnik filtracji kto zestalonej zawiesiny nie przekraczał 1-109 m/s.The method according to the invention makes it possible to waterproof the ground of an open-air solid waste landfill, especially municipal or industrial, with a self-solidifying suspension of fly ash in water, the sealing meeting the requirements for mineral lining, in particular the requirement that the filtration coefficient of the solidified suspension should not exceed 1- 10 9 m / s.

Achieving such tightness of the solidified ash-water suspensions has not been possible so far due to the natural porosity of solids formed as a result of solidification of the suspension. It was also not possible when cement was added to the suspension in a liquid state in an amount not exceeding 18% in relation to the weight of dry ashes. The addition of quicklime in the amount of up to 6% of the fly ash mass also did not ensure obtaining the required tightness of the solidified suspension, and exceeding this limit resulted in cracking of the solidified solid.

Przyspiesza to proces tężenia płynnej zawiesiny i polepsza jej szczelność, gdyż wówczas większa ilość związków wiążących bierze udział w procesie tężenia płynnej warstwy, albowiem pozostaje w jej obrębie. It turned out unexpectedly that obtaining the required tightness of the solidified ash-water suspension (when the kio filtration coefficient does not exceed 1-10-9 m / s) is possible when the dense fly ash suspension in water with a mass ratio of dry fly ashes to water greater than 1.4 kg of dry fly ashes per 1 kg of water are introduced into the substrate to be sealed in layers, and each previously introduced layer of suspension is made to harden by seasoning it for 2-5 days, and only after it has hardened, the next layer of suspension is introduced in a liquid state. This effect is surprising since the porosity of the solidified solids is essentially unchanged. However, the different conditions in which successive layers of suspension solidify make them tighter, and the layers beneath them tighten. The solidified layer of ash-water suspension located under the liquid layer makes it difficult for the water to penetrate together with the binding compounds dissolved in it from the settling layer to the layers below. This speeds up the process of concentration of the liquid suspension and improves its tightness, because then a greater amount of binding compounds is involved in the concentration of the liquid layer, as it remains within it. On the other hand, however, the water, which penetrates deeper into the solidified layers much slower, also contains dissolved binding compounds that saturate the deeper layers and cause their sealing. The total effect of these processes turned out to be unexpectedly and unexpectedly favorable. Subsequent poured layers cannot be too thin, because the loss of water as a result of its natural evaporation may disturb the concentration process. They should not be too thick, however, as the excess water above the sediment will unnecessarily delay the point at which the next layer of liquid suspension may be introduced. To avoid an unnecessary excess of water, the mass ratio of dry fly ash to water in the suspension must be greater than 1.4. Binders added to the suspension, such as metallurgical cement or Portland cement, and possibly ground quicklime, make it possible to achieve and make the achieved effects independent (in the form of tightness of the solidified layer) dependent on the quality of the ash, especially its chemical composition. In order for the suspension introduced into the area to be sealed to be transported via a pipeline from the production station to this area and to retain the ability to spread over the area and assume a horizontal surface, it must have an appropriate fluidity.

Zbyt mała rozlewność zawiesiny uniemożliwia jej transport w rurociągu i samorozpływanie sią połączone z osiągnięciem poziomej powierzchni, zbyt duża rozlewność natomiast uniemożliwia uzyskanie wymaganej szczelności warstw z uwagi na zbyt duży i szkodliwy nadmiar wody. This fluidity is achieved when the ability of the slurry to spread on a plane, measured with a Southard cylinder (according to PN-86 / B-04360), is 160 to 280 mm, preferably 190 to 230 mm. Too low fluidity of the suspension prevents it from being transported in the pipeline and self-draining are connected with reaching a horizontal surface, while too high fluidity prevents obtaining the required tightness of the layers due to too large and harmful excess of water. The number of liquid layers successively introduced on the sealed surface should not be too small, as this limits the overall effect obtained. It should also not be too large, because water carrying the binding components no longer reaches the too deeply lying layers and then they are no longer sealed. Due to the long duration of the bonding processes over time, the self-sealing of the sealing layers lasts even for several months, which means that the tightness improves during this time and the filtration coefficient of the solidified mass decreases (even 8-10 times compared to the initial state).

The advantage of the method according to the invention is the ease of practical implementation and the low cost resulting from the use of fly ash (waste material) and easily available and inexpensive binders, which are moreover required in small quantities. An additional advantage is also the low requirements for the preparation of the site for the waterproofing, which boils down to its rough alignment.

The method according to the invention is suitable for use in the construction of open landfills for solid waste, especially municipal or industrial waste.

Popioły te wykorzystano w celu uszczelnienia podłoża składowiska odkrytego pod odpady komunalne. Uszczelnienie podłoża składowiska dokonane zostało w czterech etapach.Dry fly ash from the coal combustion process in a pulverized coal boiler is characterized by the following chemical composition: SiO2 - 45.2%, AhO3 -31%, Fe2O3 - 13.6%, CaO cat total - 3.66%, CaO free - 1, 23%, MgO - 1.80%, ignition loss - 2.12%, S cat k - 1.01%, others - 1.61%. These ashes were used to seal the ground of the open landfill for municipal waste. The landfill substrate was waterproofed in four stages.

In the first stage, a layer of liquid suspension with a mass composition of: 2.1 kg of dry fly ashes, 1 kg of water, 0.21 kg of metallurgical cement (which is 10% of the mass of fly ash) and a thickness of 20 cm was introduced on the sealed substrate, and the flow ability of the slurry as determined by a Southard cylinder is 215 mm. The suspension was seasoned for three days to harden.

In the second stage, a layer of suspension of the same composition and thickness was introduced, and it was also seasoned for three days.

In the fourth stage, a layer of suspension of the same composition and thickness as in the first and second stages was introduced and it was seasoned for seven days. Permeability coefficient k 10 in the end of the sealing substrate 0.8-10 was 9 m / s for the entire layer with a total thickness of about 85 cm, and after it was decreased to 0,15-109 m / s. The seal layer was a petrified monolith and showed no cracks.
