Abstract

A composite cardboard can (1) has a shell (2) made of composite paper or cardboard whose opening has an edge (3) bent outwards at one end, forming at least three layers (2a, 2b, 2c) of the shell material which are substantially parallel at least in sections, the free end of the layer forming the shell being arranged between an inner layer and an outer layer. In order to make the can opening edge sufficiently stable for a lid (5) to be fixed thereto, the lid being designed as a tamper-alerting closure, for example, having a section which grips the opening edge from below and can be separated from the lid at a breaking line (8), the shell material layers are pressed together in the area of the opening edge. Preferably, the opening edge has exactly three layers, the free end of the central layer being pressed between the outer layer and the inner layer of the shell material.
