Abstract

A primary web (2) of mineral wool is opened into flocks (9), e.g. by a beater (8), which are then recombined by depositing them on a conveyor (11). The flock size is preferably 10 to 30 mm and can be produced directly or by recombining material after finer opening. The primary web (2) can contain a binder and further materials, e.g. hydroxides or different fibers, can be added in the opened state. The final web (4) can be laid randomly or deposited in a laminar manner. The conveyor (11) is equipped with suction and can include other treatments, e.g. feeding additional material to the edges, to produce a final product.
