The subject of the invention is an alloyed tool steel for rolls, in particular for cold-rolling backing rolls.
Known alloy tool steel used for rolls containing 0.85% by weight of carbon, 0.30% of silicon, 0.30% of manganese, 1.80% of chromium, 0.25% of molybdenum and 0.10% of vanadium, shows too low hardenability yes that the rollers made of it have a relatively small thickness of the hardened layer and require expensive heat treatment after each grinding. Another known steel containing 0.6% by weight of carbon, 0.6% silicon, 0.3% manganese, 7.0% chromium, 1.6% molybdenum, 0.1% vanadium and 1.5% tungsten is not suitable for large diameter rollers for metallurgical reasons.
Cel ten osiągnięto przez opracowanie stali zawierającej wagowo 0,35-0,75% węgla, 0,30-0,95% manganu, 0,35-1,1% krzemu, 1,0-3,9% chromu, 0,5-1,9% niklu, 0,6-2,9% łącznie molibdenu i wolframu, 0,10-0,55% wanadu, max 3,0% kobaltu, reszta żelazo i nieuniknione zanieczyszczenia, która charakteryzuje się tym, że zawiera 0,01-0,05% tytanu, 0,0005-0,010% boru, przy czym sumaryczna zawartość niklu i manganu wynosi max 1,5%.The aim of the invention is to develop an alloyed tool steel intended for rolls, which, apart from low production costs and good plastic formability, will have relatively good hardenability, allowing to obtain a hardness of 58-60 HRC in the layer with a depth of more than 50 mm in the rolls made of it. This goal was achieved by the development of steel containing 0.35-0.75% by weight of carbon, 0.30-0.95% manganese, 0.35-1.1% silicon, 1.0-3.9% chromium, 0, 5-1.9% nickel, 0.6-2.9% total molybdenum and tungsten, 0.10-0.55% vanadium, max 3.0% cobalt, the rest iron and the inevitable impurities, which is characterized by the fact that contains 0.01-0.05% titanium, 0.0005-0.010% boron, and the total content of nickel and manganese is 1.5% max.
The steel according to the invention has such a balanced chemical composition that its optimal hardening temperature is as low as possible, so that the heat dissipation is kept at an advantageously low level, and during hardening, as little residual austenite is formed.
Support roller with a diameter of 600 mm made of steel with a weight composition of 0.7% carbon, 0.35% manganese, 0.9% silicon, 3.2% chromium, 1.3% molybdenum, 1.1% nickel, 0, 2% vanadium, 0.02% titanium, 0.0015% boron, achieved a hardness of 59.5 HRC after quenching in oil and tempering at a hardened layer depth of 75 mm.
