Abstract

1. Austenitic manganese hard steel with the following alloy contents in weight % : 0.8 to 1.8 C 6.0 to 18.0 Mn 0 to 3.0 Cr 0 to 2.0 Ni 0 to 2.5 Mo 0 to 1.0 Si, wherein the ratio of the carbon content to the manganese content amounts to 1:8 to 1:14 and the remainder consists of iron, impurities and 0.02 to 0.09 weight % aluminium as de-oxidant additive as well as vanadium and titanium as micro-alloying additives, wherein the sum of the vanadium and the titanium contents amounts to between 0.05 and 0.08 weight % and the content of vanadium and titanium each amount to at least 0.01 weight % and the average grain size amounts to 0.5 mm at the most.
