Abstract

Provided are an air preheating device for a boiler and a boiler operation method with which acid dew-point corrosion of an air preheater can be reduced without causing a large reduction in boiler efficiency and a significant increase in the cost of parts. The boiler air preheating device comprises: a plurality of stages of air preheaters (151, 152, 153) aligned along the direction of flow of exhaust gas; and a bypass passage (158d) that diverts a portion of combustion air upstream from an air passage of any one of the stages of air preheaters among the plurality of stages of air preheaters, said combustion air being diverted to a position upstream from the air passage of another of the stages of air preheaters. Furthermore, with regard to a boiler equipped with a flow rate adjustment unit (159) capable of changing the degree of opening of a bypass passage, this boiler operation method is a method for changing the degree of opening used by the flow rate adjustment unit, in accordance with the utilization rate of the boiler.
