Abstract

The present invention refers to the use of cinnamaldehyde, preferably in the absence of other essential oils, for the treatment and/or prevention of the black sigatoka fungal disease. The present invention also relates to a composition for the treatment and/or prevention of the black sigatoka fungal disease, characterised in that it essentially comprises at least one active ingredient consisting of cinnamaldehyde. More specifically, the composition may comprise the following components as percentages by weight of the total percentage of the composition: (a) 10 from 1 pcnt to 60 pcnt of at least one first active ingredient consisting of cinnamaldehyde; (b) from 0.01 pcnt to 5 pcnt of at least one surfactant substance; and (c) from 10 pcnt to 75 pcnt of at least one mineral oil. additionally, using the composition for treating the black sigatoka fungal disease is also the object of the invention, which is characterised in that said composition is administered on a banana crop infected by said disease.
