Abstract

The present invention is a machine for producing corrugated paperboard with flutes of virgin kraft paper greater then 175gsm up to 337gsm. This is accomplished with a cold corrugating technology that extends the bond time, the heavy grade virgin kraft flute can form a strong bond that does not delaminate. The bond time is increased with the use of an endless flat segmented fluted belt, presses against a felt endless belt that holds the adhesive applied fluted paper to the liner paper for an extended period of time. The main element that allows the heavy virgin kraft paper to form a flute is governed by the diameter of the intermeshed corrugating roller by a ratio of flute height to roller diameter. Only one single flute tooth can engage with the flutes opposed in the segmented belt. Any more than one flute tooth at the same moment leads to flute formation failure. inate. Claims (5)

WHAT WE CLAIM IS:
1. A machine for producing corrugated paperboard with flutes of virgin kraft paper greater then 175gsm which includes:  A corrugating roller that engages only one single flute tooth at a time intermeshing with the opposite flat t flute trough;  The corrugating roller size is determined by a ratio of the flute height lied by 10 to 13 but preferred embodiment is a multiple of 12 to ate the corrugating roller diameter so only one tooth intermeshes with the opposite flat segment flute trough.
2. A machine for producing corrugated paperboard with flutes of virgin kraft paper r then 175gsm which includes:  A cold corrugating process that does not use steam heated rollers to activate the starch adhesive.  The proprietary cold starch adhesive is fully gelatinised with a high alkali solution and has a high solid content that does not need heat to te.
3. A machine for producing corrugated oard with flutes of virgin kraft paper greater then 175gsm which includes:  A endless belt constructed from a plurality of flat plastic flute segments that include spacers that form fluid passage ways for ve air pressure to pass.  The endless segmented belt is intermeshed with the corrugated roller as described in claim 1.  The endless segmented flute belt is not just a conveyor for moving the paper but is essential in forming the flute shape with the corrugated roller as described in claim 1.
4. A machine for producing corrugated paperboard with flutes of virgin kraft paper greater then 175gsm which includes:  An endless segmented belt described in claim 3 supported by a endless felt belt to press the fluted virgin kraft paper onto the liner paper that has adhesive applied by an anilox roller prior to pressing between the two endless belts.  The pressing time that the heavy grade virgin kraft fluted paper r then 175 gsm and the liner is extended along the length of the endless pressing belts.  The pressing section of the present invention belt is four meters long the production speed is 60 meters per minute.  The production speed is scalable by increasing the length of the endless belt pressing n.  The increased extended bond time of the cold ating process allows the virgin kraft fluted paper applied adhesive to ate and wet the liner paper forming a strong fibre tear bond.
5. A machine for producing corrugated paperboard with flutes of virgin kraft paper greater then 175gsm which includes:  Cardboard sheet produced with heavy duty virgin kraft paper greater then 175gsm comprising the fluted n that is covered on both sides with virgin kraft liners is very resistant to moisture with greater strength.
