Abstract
An exterior wall structure of a building, the exterior wall structure comprising: a cavity batten installed above a foundation such that the cavity batten is included in a lower end of the exterior wall structure of the building, the foundation supporting the building; a face panel fixed to the cavity batten such that the face panel is located on an outdoor side of the cavity batten; a flashing between the exterior wall structure and the foundation, the flashing being located on a lower side of the cavity batten; a through hole for water drainage, the through hole vertically penetrating the cavity batten; a drainage canal provided in part of the flashing, a panel located on an indoor side of the face panel; and a hollow layer between the face panel and the panel, the flashing being provided to cover a space between the face panel and the foundation and a support structure disposed in the space, the flashing having a tilted part extending obliquely downward toward the indoor side, a projection part rising upward from a portion of the tilted part, and a flashing part extending further downward from the tilted part, a portion of the tilted part being provided with a drainage canal, the projection part, which is configured to dam water, rising upward from an indoor-side portion of the tilted part, the hollow layer being located above the timber yoke, and being open downward through the plurality of through holes formed in the timber yoke, the exterior wall structure being configured such that water dropped on to the tilted part through the through hole is drained through the drainage canal to the flashing part, and is drained along an upper surface of the flashing part to the outdoor side of the flashing.
Claims (7)
1. An exterior wall structure of a building, the exterior wall structure comprising: a cavity batten installed above a foundation such that the cavity batten is included in a lower end of the exterior wall structure of the building, the foundation supporting the building; a face panel fixed to the cavity batten such that the face panel is located on an outdoor side of the cavity batten; a flashing between the exterior wall structure and the foundation, the flashing being located on a lower side of the cavity batten; a through hole for water drainage, the through hole vertically penetrating the cavity batten; a drainage canal provided in part of the flashing, a panel located on an indoor side of the face panel; and a hollow layer between the face panel and the panel, the flashing being provided to cover a space between the face panel and the foundation and a support structure disposed in the space, the flashing having a tilted part extending obliquely downward toward the indoor side, a projection part rising upward from a portion of the tilted part, and a flashing part extending further downward from the tilted part, a portion of the tilted part being provided with a drainage canal, the projection part, which is configured to dam water, rising upward from an indoor-side portion of the tilted part, the hollow layer being located above the cavity batten, and being open downward through the plurality of through holes formed in the cavity batten, the exterior wall structure being configured such that water dropped on to the tilted part through the through hole is drained through the drainage canal to the flashing part, and is drained along an upper surface of the flashing part to the outdoor side of the flashing.
2. The exterior wall structure of claim 1, wherein the through hole is a groove cut in the cavity batten.
3. The exterior wall structure of claim 1 or 2, wherein the foundation is a mat foundation configured to support a floor of the building without providing an underfloor space between the foundation and the floor.
4. The exterior wall structure of any one of claims 1 to 3, wherein the cavity batten has an upper surface at least part of which is a tilted surface configured to guide water toward the through hole.
5. The exterior wall structure claim 4, wherein the cavity batten includes a plurality of the through holes and a plurality of the tilted surfaces, and each of the plurality of tilted surfaces is tilted downward toward a corresponding one of the plurality of through holes.
6. The exterior wall structure of any one of claims 1 to 5, further comprising a check valve provided in the through hole.
7. The exterior wall structure of claim 1, substantially as herein described with reference to any embodiment disclosed.
