Abstract
The present invention provides the use of 1-(3’,4’,5’-trihydroxyphenyl)-3-(2’’,4’’,6’’-trihydroxyphenyl)-propan-2-ol in the manufacture of a composition for enhancing energy metabolism, enhancing sympathetic nerve activity promoting lipid combustion elevating body temperature or preventing or treating obesity. Also provided is a method for producing a 1-(3’,4’,5’-trihydroxyphenyl)-3-(2’’,4’’,6’’-trihydroxyphenyl)-propan-2-ol-containing composition, the method comprising fermenting a tea extract with a bacterium belonging to the genus Lactobacillus pentosus. The composition of the invention can be expected to have an effect of, for example, body temperature elevation, improvement in sensitivity to cold, anti-obesity, visceral fat loss, in-shape beauty, increase in metabolism, immunopotentiation, anti-fatigue, or anti-depression, or the like.
