Abstract

The present invention relates to a frame for an articulating bed comprising an extruded beam having an inner flange and a bottom flange with a feeler flange extending therefrom, and a support channel formed therein. The extruded beam is cut to form frame side elements and end elements. Head end and foot end plates are engaged with the bottom flange and the feeler flange and extend between the frame side elements, and a plurality of support elements are received in and supported by the support channel. The support elements engage a cradle supporting a seat section of an articulating structure. The invention also relates to a method of fabricating an articulating bed frame which provides for easy fabrication due to the ability to use linear manufacturing processes with minimal labor and tooling.
