Abstract
Containers having improved load-bearing features are provided and methods for manufacturing same. The method of manufacturing said improved containers having improved load-bearing capacity comprising forming a container comprising: at least one bevelled portion at a location where a side wall meets a flat bottom wall, the container having an axial load compression capacity that is substantially the same as a similar container having a greater wall thickness without the at least one bevelled portion, and a border portion along a top portion of the container, wherein border portion comprises a textural feature that improves stackability of the container, wherein the container comprises at least four side walls and an interior formed by the bottom wall and the side walls, and wherein the bevelled portion has an angle ranging from about 10° to about 60° with respect to the bottom wall, wherein the improved container has an axial load compression capacity that is substantially the same as a similar container having a greater wall thickness without the at least one bevelled portion. Advantages of the improved containers allow less materials and thus reduced costs associated with container manufacture.
