Abstract
An electrical connector, such as a wall plug outlet, comprising a first terminal 110, a first insulation displacement connector 120 for displacing insulation surrounding a first conductor 310 of an electrical conductor, and an access point disposed between the first terminal 110 and the first insulation displacement connector 120. The access point having two connection points which allows for a connector module (not shown) or a conductive link (150) to be attached between them. The connector module can take the form of a switching module that allows the electrical connection between the first terminal and first insulation displacement connector to be controlled. The connector module can further include a wired or wireless communication device to allow the switching module to be controlled by a remote signal.
