Abstract

A modular building system for use in constructing a modular building structure has multiple building modules, the building module including a building panel 50 with a central core located intermediate a first covering member and a second covering member, and at least a first connector 10 and a second connector 10, the first and second connectors for use in connecting the building panel 50 within the building structure. The building panel 50 has at least a first edge member 58 located along a first side or edge of the building panel 50, and a second edge member 58 located along a second side or edge of the building panel 50, the first edge member 58 and the second edge member 58 forming an integral framework of the building panel 50 for providing strength and rigidity to the building panel 50. The first edge member 58 has at least one first engaging element 60a and the second edge member 58 has at least one second engaging element 60b. The first connector 10 has at least one first retainer and the second connector 10 has at least one second retainer. The first engaging element 60a of the first edge member 58 cooperatively engages with the at least one first retainer of the first connector 10 to interconnect the building panel 50 and the first connector 10, and the second engaging element 60b of the second edge member 58 cooperative engages with the at least one second retainer of the second connector 10 to interconnect the building panel 50 and the second container. The first edge member 58 and the second edge member 58 are oriented within the building panel 50 so that the at least one first engaging element is exposed along the first edge or side of the building panel 50 and the at least one second engaging element is exposed along the second edge or side of the building panel 50 so that when the at least one first engaging element cooperatively engages with the at least one first retainer, the building panel 50 and the first connector 10 are interconnected to one another to locate the first edge of the building panel 50 with respect to the modular building structure and when the at least one second engaging element cooperatively engages with the at least one second retainer, the building panel 50 and the second connector 10 are interconnected to one another to locate the second edge of the building panel 50 with respect to the modular building structure to position the building panel 50 at a selected location within the modular building structure.
